Family City Break in Dubai

Great beaches, desert activities and spectacular hotels make Dubai a popular choice for families seeking a winter sun escape.

Getting there There’s a wide choice of direct flights available. Dubai is GMT+4, so expect some jetlag.
When to go Temperatures frequently soar to over 40oC between April and October, so start planning now for a winter break when the weather is sunny but not searing.
Getting around Forget about hiring a car – it’s only a 30-minute-or-so transfer from the airport to most hotels. Explore the city’s famous souks on foot – and don’t forget to cruise the Creek (a seawater inlet bisecting the city) on an abra (water taxi).
Where to stay Jumeirah’s Burj al-Arab is Dubai’s iconic hotel of choice, but there are plenty of other high quality (and cheaper) alternatives.
What to do Wild Wadi, Dubai’s famous water park, is awash with adrenaline rides, including the 80km/h Jumeirah Sceirah slide – not for littl’uns! If you prefer ‘thrills without spills’ book a desert safari where you’ll hurtle over sand dunes and ride camels.
