We have a five-year-old and a 15-year-old and are going on our first holiday in years. Where would you recommend to please both children?

The world’s your oyster. There’s never been a bigger or better range of family holiday options that cater for such a range of age groups – and that includes parents as well as tots to teens. It sounds like this is a long awaited, well-earned holiday, so I’d recommend a mixture of action and relaxation.

The all-inclusive Sea Garden Beach Resort in Turkey should keep everyone happy. It has no less than five children’s clubs (including one for teenagers) and non-stop action for kids, big and small. Grown-ups get free sailing and windsurfing tuition, while children can have a go at a variety of watersports, tennis etc.

If you really want to push the boat out, how about a family cruise? One of four family-friendly ships operated by P&O, the Ventura is child-heaven with everything from a family pool, ice-cream parlour, pizzeria, cinema and sports court to a playroom for two- to eight-year-olds and a snazzy clubhouse for nine- to 17-year-olds.

A villa holiday would also work well for the age range of your children – particularly if you opt for the South of France where teenagers will enjoy the stylish resorts. Ideal for families with older children who want their own space, Vintage Travel has a property in Provence called Mas des Issarts with three bedrooms, a heated infinity pool, table tennis and table football.
